I am posting this photo In honor of the National Safe Boating Council’s “Wear your life jacket at work day” which is Friday, May 17th. “U.S. Coast Guard statistics show that drowning was the reported cause of death in four out of every five recreational boating fatalities in 2022, and that 75 percent of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets. There are many options for boaters when it comes to choosing a life jacket. When selecting a life jacket, a boater should check that it is U.S. Coast Guard approved, appropriate for the water activity, and fits properly. National Safe Boating Week will take place following Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day from May 18-24, 2024. During this week, the Safe Boating Campaign will provide daily tips for boaters on social media. WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET AT WORK DAY Each year, on the third Friday in May the National Safe Boating Council promotes boating safety week with a “Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day”. This year we’d like our International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI) members to participate in this event! On Friday May 17th, wear your life jacket & snap a picture while at work, and tag IAMI on your social media post along with the hashtags #wearyourlifejacketatworkday #safeboating #IAMI The member who gets the most “likes” on the IAMI Page will receive a $50.00 gift certificate. The cutoff for the "likes" tally will be Friday May, 24th at Midnight US Eastern Time!! Have FUN!
