Armed to the teeth，按字面意思翻译就是：“武装到牙齿”，可以引申为“全副武装，装备齐全”。这个短语是怎么来的呢？
1849年，armed to the teeth第一次出现。英国实业家和政治家理查德·科布登在演讲中谈到英国的国防预算问题时说"Is there any reason why we should be armed to the teeth?"，从此，armed to the teeth就被广泛使用。
例如：
Hitler was armed to the teeth when he launched the Second World War, but in a few years, he was completely defeated.
希特勒在发动第二次世界大战时全副武装，可是不过几年，就被彻底打败了。
The students went into the examination room, armed to the teeth with pens, pencils, erasers, calculators and so on.
